Zusammenfassung
Die Schwere einer Aphasie lässt nur bedingt Rückschlüsse auf die Kommunikationsfähigkeit zu. Daher ist es in der sprachtherapeutischen Behandlung wichtig, auch das Kommunikationsverhalten der Person mit Aphasie in der Diagnostik zu erfassen und sprachtherapeutisch zu behandeln. Das Kommunikationsverhalten beinhaltet nicht nur verbale Fähigkeiten, sondern auch in besonderem Maße alternative Kommunikationsmittel wie z. B. Gestik oder Zeichnen. Während sich eher geringe systematische Zusammenhänge zwischen nonverbalen kognitiven Leistungen und linguistischen Fähigkeiten zeigen, werden kommunikative Fähigkeiten in sehr ausgeprägter Weise durch neuropsychologische Begleitstörungen beeinflusst. In diesem Beitrag wird die Relevanz kommunikativer Leistungen für das therapeutische Handeln herausgestellt und der Einfluss von Begleitstörungen auf das Kommunikationsverhalten diskutiert. Aufbauend werden ausgewählte aktuelle Entwicklungen in den Bereichen Diagnostik und Therapie kommunikativer Leistungen bei Aphasie vorgestellt.

Approaches in assessment and therapy of communicative abilities in people with aphasia

Abstract
The success of communicative behavior depends only partly on the linguistic abilities of a person with aphasia. For this reason, it is important to include assessments of communicative abilities in the standard diagnostic catalogue as well as to include treatment approaches for functional communication in aphasia therapy. Communicative behavior is not limited to speech production and comprehension, but involves alternative communicative methods, such as gesture or drawing. Additional neuropsychological deficits a person with aphasia might present do not systematically correlate with language functions, but have been shown to significantly influence the communicative abilities of people with aphasia. We will outline the relevance of systematically assessing and treating communicative behavior in people with aphasia with regard to the influence of neuropsychological disorders. Building upon this, we will describe selected current approaches in the diagnosis and therapy of communicative abilities in aphasia.
